New Pediatric Specialist Guide

To order a free copy of the guide, call (617) 355-7500 or send an e-mail with your mailing address to marketing@childrens.harvard.edu. A hard copy of the physician directory by department can be printed by visiting www.childrenshospital.org/specialists and selecting Print on Demand.

Expansion plans
Children's Hospital Boston recently unveiled its 10-year Institutional Master Plan, which aims to expand the hospital's clinical and research capacities and modernize the Longwood campus. The proposed plans are subject to city and community review, and modifications could be made. To see renderings of the proposed changes and additions, go to the January issue of Children's News at www.childrenshospital.org/masterplan.

February 6 to 13 is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. For more information on congenital or acquired heart defects, visit www.childrenshospital.org/heart.

Patient wristband project
Children's patient wristband project is now underway. These redesigned wristbands include an Aztec bar code (a series of small dots in the shape of a square) that has the patient's identification information embedded in it. This bar code will be used extensively in the next phase of the hospital's Children's Hospital Applications Maximizing Patient Safety (CHAMPS) initiative. The new wristbands are currently in use in all inpatient areas, including Pre-Op/Admitting and the Emergency Department. The next step will be to use them in outpatient settings.
