Patient wristband project
Children's patient wristband project is now underway. These redesigned wristbands include an Aztec bar code (a series of small dots in the shape of a square) that has the patient's identification information
embedded in it. This bar code will be used extensively in the next phase of the hospital's Children's Hospital
Applications Maximizing
Patient Safety (CHAMPS)
initiative. The new wristbands are currently in use in all
inpatient areas, including
Pre-Op/Admitting and the Emergency Department. The next step will be to use them in outpatient settings.
