A continuing commitment
Technology increases patient access to care

Children’s Hospital Boston recently introduced SmartTalk, a new patient communication system that automatically calls patients prior to an appointment or procedure to deliver a personalized reminder message.

The telephone reminders, which are spoken in a recorded human voice, are more reliable than mailed notices. They allow patients to give verbal or touch-tone confirmation that they will keep or reschedule their appointments, and can include personalized information or instructions for each patient about his or her upcoming procedure. Reports show providers which patients have confirmed or plan to reschedule.
