Pediatric Surgery Fellowship

The two-year pediatric surgical residency offers exposure to a large volume of complex cases with liberal use of minimally invasive techniques. Operative experience includes thoracic, abdominal, urologic, oncologic, vascular, endoscopic and transplant surgery. Our busy outpatient clinic is an integral component of the program, providing preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of many of the patients, particularly newborns.

A very close working relationship exists between the senior surgical staff and the resident staff. All senior staff members have offices within the hospital, facilitating close case-by-case and day-to-day interactions between the senior staff and the residents. Senior staff members are assigned on a daily basis as the "on call" surgeon and are expected to participate in the decision making and the conduct of surgery in all major cases and in the care of critically ill patients.
