Partnering with the City and community to make Boston an even healthier place for families

Improving the health of Boston’s children is one of Children’s Hospital Boston’s core missions. We transform this mission into action by working with the City of Boston and our community partners to address the health concerns that Boston families face every day, such as asthma, mental health and obesity.

We will continue to partner with the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) to help inform the citywide agenda for children’s health and improve access to care for issues that disproportionately affect Boston children. We’re also working with the BPHC to conduct an in-depth assessment of children’s health to uncover gaps in care and emerging issues to inform future program and advocacy efforts.

Children’s is partnering with the Boston Public Schools (BPS), providing services directly to students and families as well as working with leaders to determine how we can help strengthen the school system. We’re also supporting BPS and City of Boston initiatives—Countdown to Kindergarten, Thrive in Five, Parenting in Action and Parent University—to help parents before their children enter school and keep them in school. As a major employer located in the heart of the city, Children’s is working to improve the economic health of Boston. We train Boston residents and youth to enter the health care field and our workforce development initiatives provide them with opportunities for growth and enrichment.

Our community efforts reflect Children’s unique expertise to improve child health. We strongly believe that our partnerships and programs leverage our clinical, financial and human resources to have a significant impact in Boston—making it an even more vibrant place for children and families to learn, live and thrive.
