Research Overview

Dr. Pollock's research program bridges infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, with projects focused on the development and evaluation of novel diagnostic tests for infectious diseases and related applications.  Current research projects include the following:

  • development of a urine antigen detection test for diagnosis of active tuberculosis (collaboration with Dr. Antonio Campos-Neto, Forsyth Institute)
  • development of ultrasensitive and quantitative assays for C. difficile toxins A and B using single molecule array (SiMoA) technology (collaboration with Quanterix Corporation, Lexington, MA, and Ciaran Kelly, BIDMC)
  • development of a paper-based point-of-care "liver function" test using fingerstick blood (collaboration with Diagnostics For All, Cambridge, MA, and Dr. George Whitesides, Harvard Chemistry)
  • development of a SiMoA assay for quantification of HIV p24 protein as a measure of viral load (collaboration with Quanterix Corporation, Lexington, MA)
  • development of a novel device for collection and incremental dispensation of fingerstick blood (collaboration with Dr. Alexis Sauer-Budge, Fraunhofer CMI)
