Research Overview

Dr. Calzo's work combines large-scale survey research, mixed-methods, and community-based participatory research approaches to study the intersections of gender, sexuality, and adolescent health.
One area of Dr. Calzo's research examines the development and prevention of sexual orientation health disparities, with a particular focus on how school and community settings socialize health behaviors. A second area of Dr. Calzo's research examines body image, physical activity, and eating disorder risk in heterosexual and sexual minority (e.g., gay, bisexual, mostly heterosexual, queer) boys and men.
