Dr. Garcia has an interest in mental health and illness in the medically ill population with a focus in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Dr. Garcia has worked on mechanisms for improving mental health care for this population by completing quality improvement projects on patients with CF on mental health screening, health care utilization, and health related outcomes in patients with comorbid depression. Additionally, she has written about Vitamin D and its potential impact on depression and health related outcomes in patients with CF. As a mental health provider in a collaborative care model she would like to improve collaboration, consultation, and coordination of mental healthcare for patients using and expanding on evidence based interventions for patients with CF.
About Georgina Garcia
Dr. Garcia received her Bachelors in Arts and Science from Dartmouth College and medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Tufts- New England Medical Center and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Boston Children’s Hospital. After finishing her fellowship she did outpatient psychopharmacology at Martha Eliot Health Center, Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center, and in private practice. Dr. Garcia is on the Psychiatry Consultation Service at Boston Children’s Hospital with a sub-specialization in CF.
