Research Overview

Dr. Garcia has an interest in mental health and illness in the medically ill population with a focus in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).  Dr. Garcia has worked on mechanisms for improving mental health care for this population by completing quality improvement projects on patients with CF on mental health screening, health care utilization, and health related outcomes in patients with comorbid depression.  Additionally, she has written about Vitamin D and its potential impact on depression and health related outcomes in patients with CF.  As a mental health provider in a collaborative care model she would like to improve collaboration, consultation, and coordination of mental healthcare for patients using and expanding on evidence based interventions for patients with CF.
