Physical Therapy has a long history at Children's as a way to restore function. Initially, most physical therapy was performed to restore strength and movement lost due to bone and joint tuberculosis. With pasteurization of milk, however, tuberculosis was largely eliminated in the United States, and polio became the primary disabling disease.
