  Flower ImageGenomics Program

Chaired by Louis Kunkel, PhD, the Genomics Program will build on the newly discovered information provided by the sequencing of the human genome to determine the genetic abnormalities that lead to pediatric and adult disease. Genetic disorders account for one-third of pediatric hospital admissions and half of childhood deaths. Knowledge of genomics could lead to the prediction of likely future diseases in infants and children. Initial focus areas of the Genomics Program include autism, congenital heart defects and childhood obesity.

Featured researchers in the Genomics Program hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School.
