Brief Personal Statement:
I was born in New York City but have lived in the Boston area for the last 25 years. I grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts and after graduating from Framingham North High School I attended the University of Rochester from 1982-1986. While there, several important things happened to me: I met my wife, I learned to hate the cold weather, I learned to enjoy biomedical research, and I earned a B.S. degree in Neuroscience. After college, I returned to the Boston area where I worked for two years as a research technician at Brigham and Women's Hospital before starting graduate school in the Division of Medical Sciences at Harvard Medical School. After six (gulp) years, I completed the program and earned a Ph.D. degree in the field of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Stiles. I have just started a post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Greenberg at Children's Hospital.
Outside of the laboratory I have several varied and consuming interests. My wife, Kimberly, and I have a son, Benjamin, who is at the center of our lives and who makes me smile and laugh more and more as each day passes. I enjoy a capella singing and musical theater, both of which I have engaged in since I was in high school, although finding the time these days has become increasingly difficult. And, I admit it...I'm a Boston sports fan through and through. It's not always easy, and it isn't always fun, but it's always interesting. I hope to enjoy a Red Sox World Series Championship with my son, Benjamin, someday......but I'm not holding my breath.
