As with the previous micrograph, this one shows cultured smooth muscle cells stained for a cytoskeletal protein (shown in red). The green staining in this one, however, shows the generation of oxygen-free radicals in the cells that were grown in a low-oxygen environment. The cell nucleus is stained blue.
