| Principal Investigator: | Catherine Gordon |
| Trial Description: | Young women with eating disorders have abnormal blood hormone levels that affect bone growth and development. As a result, they are at high risk for developing early bone loss and/or osteoperosis. This study seeks to find a way to prevent bone loss in teens and young adults with eating disorders. Previous studies show that estrogen helps to maintain bone density. DHEA is another natural hormone that is also associated with preventing bone loss and strengthening bones. Through a combination of a low-dose estrogen therapy and DHEA, we believe that it may be possible to increase bone density! |
