Find a Clinical Trial
Principal Investigator:Ingrid Holm
Trial Description:We are interested in identifying the genes that increase the chance for children to develop developmental dysplasia of the hip (congenital hip dislocation). We hope that information gained from this study will lead to a better understanding of this condition as well as new ways of diagnosing and treating children with developmental dysplasia of the hip.
Recruitment Info:This study is a joint project of the Orthopedic Surgery Department and the Program in Genomics of Children's Hospital. Children followed in the Orthopedics Clinic at Children's Hospital who have developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) are eligible to enroll in the study along with their parent(s), and any brothers/sisters who also have DDH. Participation in the study requires a one-time research visit scheduled the same day as an Orthopedics Clinic appointment. We ask questions about participants' medical and family histories. Participating children, their parent(s) and brothers/sisters are also asked to provide a saliva sample for the genetic studies. The research visit takes about ½ to 1 hour to complete. There is no cost to participate in the study and we provide a parking pass to cover the cost of parking for the day.
