| Trial Description: | Dr. Benjamin C. Warf is conducting this "Outcomes Study of Combined Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy and Choroid Plexus Cauterization (ETV/CPC) for Treatment of Post-hemorrhagic Hydrocephalus of Prematurity (PHHP)" study. The purpose of this study is to collect information from the patient's care before, during and after their surgery, as well as information from exams at one, three, six and 12 months after surgery. Patients who are between zero (corrected age for premature birth) and six months and are undergoing Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy and Choroid Plexus Cauterization (ETV/CPC) surgery can be a part of this study. The collection of data is the only research piece.
If your child is undergoing ETV/CPC to treat their hydrocephalus as the result of being born early and having a bleed in their brain, he or she is eligible to participate in this study. Hydrocephalus is a condition of the brain that affects the amount of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) the brain makes and absorbs. All people have CSF – it is fluid in the brain and spinal column. Patients with hydrocephalus have a build up of CSF that does not circulate and get absorbed properly.
