Scientific Program Manager

The Scientific Program Manager works as part of a dynamic professional team that reports to the Director of the Translational Neuroscience Center (TNC) at Boston Children’s Hospital. The specific duties of the Scientific Program Manager are to engage with leading neuroscience faculty and other TNC staff in the development of both basic science and clinical research projects and to oversee the process of generating proposals from concept development, to identification of appropriate federal and nonfederal funding sources, to writing and editing proposals. Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining public information on the TNC (e.g. written materials, PowerPoint presentations, and web content), coordinating research symposia in collaboration with other TNC staff, and managing grant reports.


• Assist with scientific grant and proposal development and writing for both neuroscience laboratory initiatives and clinical research on neurodevelopmental disorders
• Solicit and administer peer review of requests submitted to the TNC for funding of pilot projects in translational neuroscience
• Work with TNC leadership and vendors to develop and update marketing materials for the TNC including web sites, newsletters, brochures, and slide decks that describe scientific resources available through the TNC to academic, foundation, and industrial audiences.
• Develop donor materials including annual reports and timely progress reports to grant makers
• Lead the TNC staff and administrative team in planning scientific events such as scientific symposia, seminar series, and educational workshops.

Basic Qualifications:

MS required, preferably in neuroscience or related field. 7+ years relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications:
Ph.D preferred. 2-3 years of experience in planning, writing grants, or scientific communication. The candidate will provide documentation of demonstrated success in preparing successful government and private funding research grants. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Strong computer skills including MS Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with multi-departmental and multi-institutional teams. Demonstrated ability to effectively set priorities, recognize and solve problems proactively, and provide keen attention to detail.
