Internship at The Pennsylvania State University, Department of BiologyActively studied under Dr. Peter Hudson: Director for the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics

  • Performed research on mammalian epidemiology, population dynamics, and parasite interactions
  • Identified key hosts, associated parasite communities, and population destabilizations in field sites
  • Facilitated research by conducting dissections, analyses, and identification of intestinal parasites, fieldwork mapping, mathematical modeling and data analysis input

Pennsylvania State University Teaching Assistant for Advanced Biology Curriculum

  • Instructed over 100 students in Biology 240W: The Function and Development of Organisms
  • Played an integral and interactive role in developing student understanding of physiological principles
  • Managed laboratory experiment procedures, promoted student enthusiasm, and classroom interaction
  • Developed leadership and managerial qualities, honed time management and presentation abilities

Internship at Western Pennsylvania Allegheny Health System

  • Established a comprehensive understanding of orthopedic diagnoses under Dr. M.Rogal, M.D.
  • Visually examined patients, x-ray results, and medical charts and assisted in identifying maladies
  • Assisted in discussion of patients’ medical conditions in determining appropriate courses of recovery

  • Pennsylvania State University Dance Marathon (THON), student-run philanthropy for pediatric cancer

  • Helped to raise over 8 million dollars for cancer research through Hershey Medical Center

Future Directions
Beginning part-time M.B.A. in Health Sector Management at Boston University, starting January 2008.
