Children's Hospital Boston actively seeks and participates in research collaborations and licensing opportunities with industry. Our relationships with industry are mutually beneficial and aligned with the mission and policies of the Hospital. We provide a world-class academic research environment where federally-sponsored research grants and contracts, philanthropic revenue, and corporate sponsored research funding support advancements in basic and clinical research.
The Intellectual Property Office and the Office of Corporate Sponsored Research serve as liaisons between the Hospital's research community and the corporate and philanthropic healthcare industries. We develop and nurture these collaborations to disseminate intellectual capital for the public benefit.

- The Office of Corporate Sponsored Research promotes collaborative research relationships between corporate sponsors and the Hospital's academic investigators. Children's Hospital Boston has long been recognized as a leader in both pediatric clinical research and basic laboratory research. Corporate sponsorship enables early stage research and technologies to be further developed into pre-clinical and ultimately clinical applications, thus promoting both academic and corporate goals
- Intellectual property capable of advancing healthcare products and services can be fully developed and made accessible to the greatest number of patients through partnerships with biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies and venture capitalists. The Intellectual Property Office of Children's Hospital Boston facilitates the transfer of patentable and non-patentable intellectual property, know-how, and trade secret technologies to these industries through exclusive and non-exclusive licenses, option agreements, and the formation of start-up companies. Licensing agreements are established through our commercial partners' interests in the intellectual capital generated at this world-class research and healthcare institution.
