Research Overview

Laurie Cohen's research in basic science focuses on determining the pathogenesis of hypopituitarism in children with short stature and in characterizing growth hormone gene regulation. Her laboratory interests have dovetailed with her clinical work in treating hypopituitarism as a side effect of treatment for cancer, especially brain tumors. Her current goal is to characterize endocrine sequelae in patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.

In other endocrine research, she is investigating growth and insulin resistance in neuroblastoma survivors and the mechanisms of hypothalamic obesity.
