Izabela Leahy, MS, BSN, RN

Executive Director for the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine

As the Executive Director for the Department Izabela integrates the practices and the priorities of the anesthesia department into the larger mission of the BCH.  A highly effective healthcare leader with clinical and administrative experience. Izabela has a reputation for integrity, credibility, and talent for organizational development and innovative solutions. A committed mentor who effectively identifies talented individuals and fosters their career growth. Extensive clinical background with unique ability to understand quality, research and safety issues in the complex clinical environment of a major academic medical center. Izabela’s activities represent innovation and advancement in three distinct areas:  Operations,  Quality Improvement, Research. Founder and Director of the Pediatric Clinical and Research Internship (PACaRI) and Pediatric Anesthesia Research center (PARC).


Amanda Whipple

Amanda joined Boston Children’s as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine in November of 2013, shortly after receiving her MPH in Health Policy from The George Washington University School of Public Health. In addition to managing the  Pediatric Anesthesia Clinical and Research Internship Program, she also coordinates the Department’s Quality Improvement Program, focusing on enhancing patient safety, improving outcomes, while increasing practice efficiency and efficacy.

Rebecca Brennan, MSHM

Program Manager III 

Rebecca Brennan began her career in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine in 2006 in the Division of Pain Medicine assisting Dr. Charles Berde. In 2007, she began assisting Dr. Babu Koka in the Perioperative Division. Rebecca earned a master’s degree in Healthcare Management in 2012 from Champlain College in Burlington, VT.

Among her many responsibilities is maintaining the schedules for 72 physicians, 30 CRNAs, 18-21 residents and 20 fellows. Along with coordination and assisting with the anesthesia assignments for the daily OR schedule with Dr. Koka. Rebecca is also the administrative manager for the Perioperative and Cardiac Anesthesia Division.
