NBO/NBAS International

Welcome to the NBO/NBAS International network webpage! The NBO/NBAS International Network consists of NBO and NBAS trainers from training and research sites in different countries around the world.  This webpage is designed to provide a forum for the dissemination of news about NBO and NBAS research and training in different countries and to promote collaboration between members of of the network. We would like to invite you - trainers and your trainees - to share your ideas and experiences from your country or region on NBO and NBAS training and research, on mentoring, certification news, clinical experiences and all topics related to the NBO and NBAS
 
NBO/NBASInternational is dedicated to promoting the use of the Newborn Behavioral Observations (NBO) system and the Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale (NBAS) in research and clinic settings around the world. NBO/NBASInternational is engaged in the education, training and certification of professionals who use these tools in their research or clinical practice with infants and families.  There are NBO and NBAS sites in Asia (Japan, Thailand, and Australia), Europe (Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK), North America (US), South America (Brazil).  

Below is a photograph of the International NBAS & NBO Trainers taken at the Harvard Faculty club dinner in November 2015, which included participants from twenty one countries. Ninety-seven year-old Berry Brazelton is seated at the center of the group. Trainer Emeritus Jean Cole and Kevin Nugent, Director on the Brazelton Institute, are seated each side of Dr. Brazelton. This was the 30th anniversary of the first Trainers meeting which took place at the Free University of Berlin in 1985 and was organized by Kevin Nugent and Hellgard Rauh.  That meeting in Berlin was also attended by Professor Joao Gomes-Pedro, who is seated on the left in the photo.
