Background
Received the B.Sc. degree in Biology in 1993 from Tel-Aviv University, Israel.
Received the M.Sc. degree in Microbiology in 1995 from Tel-Aviv University, Israel.
Received the Ph.D. degree in Molecular Endocrinology in 2001, Tel-Aviv University, Israel.

Research Interests
My research interests focus on identifying the molecular mechanisms that drive nerve regeneration and promote neuronal survival. Identifying master regulator genes that orchestrate complex processes such as nerve regeneration and neuronal survival could have a broad range of applications from treatment of spinal cord injuries to neurodegenerative diseases. I have recently discovered that the transcription factor ATF3 has an important role in promoting neurite outgrowth in adult sensory neurons, suggesting that ATF3 may play a key role in nerve regeneration. In order to assess this hypothesis further, I have generated ATF3 transgenic mouse models and I am currently in the process of evaluating the role of this transcription factor both in nerve regeneration and in neurodegenerative disorders such as ALS.
