The Gussoni Lab frequently uses fluorescent imaging microscopy techniques to conduct research. We have selected representative photographs taken by lab members which provide insight into the biological phenomena being studied in our laboratory.

     
Shown here is a positive control human quadriceps section stained with CAP 6-10 anti-dystrophin and NCL-Spec1 anti-human spectrin primary anti-bodies and their corresponding fluorescently tagged FITC (green dystrophin) and TRITC (red spectrin) secondaries. Nuclei are stained in blue with DAPI. All photographs are at 40x objective lens magnification. Donor derived human spectrin protein expression (in red) in NOD Rag1 null mdx5cv mouse tibialis anterior muscle tissue sections 30 days following intramuscular injection of human adult bone marrow mesenchymal cells into the mouse TAs. The tissue was stained with CAP 6-10 anti-dystrophin and NCL-Spec1 anti-spectrin primary anti-bodies and their corresponding fluorescently tagged FITC (green dystrophin) and TRITC (red spectrin) secondaries. Nuclei are stained in blue with DAPI. A small myofiber expressing both dystrophin and donor derived human spectrin in NOD Rag1 null mdx5cv mouse tibialis anterior muscle tissue sections 30 days following intramuscular injection of human adult bone marrow mesenchymal cells into the mouse TAs.
