ACRU Internship Program

The Anesthesia Clinical Research Unit has instituted an internship program for students who are preparing for or are in medical school. Interns are to be involved in a research study from inception to manuscript preparation with Boston Children's Hospital's Anesthesia Department.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Applicants should be enrolled currently in a degree program (preferably graduate or medical school)
  • At least a 1-year time commitment is required
  • Interns need to be able to commit at least 20-25 hours a week
  • Applicants must be detail oriented, self-directed and eager to learn
  • Applicants should have an interest in the healthcare field

ACRU Intern Opportunities:

  • Work side-by-side as co-investigator on a research study with an anesthesiologist from Boston Children's Hospital
  • Continuous mentoring from an ACRU research team member
  • Listed as Co-Investigator with ACRU mentor and anesthesiologist on the protocol and manuscript publication
  • Observe research cases in the OR/catheterization lab.

Expected Duties of Interns:

  • IRB Protocol development and submission
  • Data collection and database maintenance
  • Manuscript preparation for publication
  • Thesis development (if applicable to degree program)
  • Assist anesthesia technicians
