Tutor a CHB employee in basic science: make a difference in someone's life!

The Bridge to College Program is located on-site at Boston Children's Hospital. This program assists current Children's employees who are seeking to transition into the clinical sciences.
These employees must take prerequisite basic science courses. Some of them have never taken a college class.
As a postdoctoral research fellow or clinical fellow, you can help!
For as little as 1-2 hours per week (lunch time, after 5:00pm), you can make a difference!
Currently there is an immediate need for:

# Tutors Needed

Intro to College Biology

Not only will you be helping someone, you can add this to your CV, making you more desirable to a potential employer!

This program is sponsored by JVS. Further details are below:

  • An opportunity to use your experience to make a difference in a adult students life.
  • We have the immediate need for four individuals willing to meet for one to two hours a week (on your lunch break or after work) to tutor an adult student in intro college classes.
  • Our students are extraordinary individuals who have taken on the challenge of being a parent, full time employee at CHB, and student pursuing their dreams of becoming a Nurse or healthcare worker.
  • The opportunity to make a difference for each student is immense. You do not have to be an expert in each subject, but have the basic knowledge to help these new college students understand basic intro concepts, work on lab reports, and study successfully for tests. Your regular support can be the difference between a student feeling lost in class and the excitement of getting an A!

If you would like to be a tutor, or want to learn more please email or call Chris Littlefield, 207-370-8112.

Thank you in advance for you support!

One suggestion for gaining teaching experience is to inquire at the the Harvard Medical School regarding their need for tutorial leaders.

You should contact either a Director for the Medical School Department that you are interested in, or a Medical Education Course Administrator.
