Waltham Virtual Tour: MR Imaging
MR Imaging room
Our new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit provides a high-tech look at the inside of a child's body. The large, doughnut-shaped machine (the magnet) takes up most of the room. During the test, a child usually lies on his or her back on the firm couch, which is then moved into the middle of the magnet.
control room Control Room
The doctors and radiographer operate the MRI from the control room. A speaker and microphone on the inside of the scanner enable the staff to communicate with patients inside. If a child has a question during the procedure, he or she can call the control room by pressing a call button.
