American Red Cross

Association of Jewish Family and Children Agencies that provide direct services at the local level; search for local organization
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America
One-to-one mentoring for at-risk youth
Catholic Charities
Catholic organization providing services to people across the life spectrum, from adoption to elder services, including counseling and direct services; search by state
Easter Seals
Provides services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families; search by state
Goodwill
Network of community-based, autonomous member organizations that serves people with workplace disadvantages and disabilities by providing job training and employment services, as well as job placement opportunities and post-employment support; search for local organization
Knights of Columbus
Catholic fraternal society, provides money for van conversion, home ramps/lifts, hearing aids; must apply to local chapter
Lion's Club International
Service organization where main program is blindness prevention; search for local chapter
March of Dimes
Organization providing funding, research and advocacy to fight birth defects, prematurity and low-birth weight; search by state
Salvation Army
International organization with local programs, ranging from religious services and evangelistic campaigns to family counseling, day-care centers, youth activities, and general programs at community centers
United Way
Raises funds and mobilizes resources for the many community organizations that are members of the United Way
