Dianne Cella MSN, RN, RYT, Staff Nurse III
Dianne has been a practicing pediatric nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital for since 1978. Dianne is the founder of Boston Children’s Hospital Family Wellness Program which runs primarily out of the Hale Family Center for Families. In 2016, Dianne was the keynote speaker at the Yoga Reaches Out Yogathon. The program is currently expanding due to a generous donation from the Yoga Reaches Out team.
Dianne is a Reiki Master and registered yoga teacher and has been practicing yoga since 1980 integrating many of the yogic principles throughout her nursing practice employing breath work, mindfulness, meditation and healing. She has presented with colleagues at Integrative Medicine Grand Rounds on “Family Centered Integrative Care in Pediatric Hospital: An Interdisciplinary model (2016) as well as other professional presentations fostering the idea of integrating complementary therapies in pediatric care.
She is also an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist and uses integrative modalities to treat symptoms of pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, constipation and exhaustion. Dianne is a member of the Children’s Hospital Integrative Care team and Boston Hospitals Nursing Consortium on Integrative Care and a member of Yoga Alliance.
Alyssa has a master’s degree in Social Work, which has been the basis of her experience working with people who have suffered various kinds of trauma. Since she was honored for her work with survivors of homicide victims in Roxbury with the John Taylor Award, her passion for energy healing grew. She studied under Reiki Master teachers Libby Barnett and Shona Keller and is certified in Reiki I, II, and III and in Lumarian energy healing and Diamond Light healing. Alyssa is also certified to teach and attune to Reiki I and II and has introduced both adults and children to those healing benefits. She has partnered with BeWell Boston and most recently, she practices Reiki at Boston Children’s Hospital where she is also the Patient Services Administrator for Cardiac Cath labs and related areas since 2000. She is the grateful mother of a child who is a patient at Boston Children’s Hospital and is excited to give back by providing this service to caregivers visiting the Hale Family Center for Families.
Carmen is currently working in the Hale Family Center for Families and has been working for Boston Children’s Hospital since 2011. She previously worked as an administrative assistant in the hospital’s inpatient Psychiatry Department. Carmen is a licensed Zumba instructor and teaches Zumba to both families and staff in order to help reduce stress, promote weight loss and improve mood.
Emily Jean Davidson, MD, MPH, RYT
Dr. Davidson is a pediatrician specializing in the care of children with complex needs. Board certified in General Pediatrics and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Dr. Davidson focuses clinically on children with down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other multi-system medical issues. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and her medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Davidson has worked at Boston Children's Hospital since arriving in 1994 to begin her residency in pediatrics. She also completed fellowship in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics at Boston Children's and a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Davidson is the Director of Prenatal Services for the Boston Children's Hospital Down Syndrome Program and also sees patients in the Cerebral Palsy Program. She is the Director of Adventure Challenge, a Children's Hospital community service program that matches trained volunteers with children with disabilities to do exercise in the computer.
Dr. Davidson has been practicing yoga since 1999 and teaching inclusive yoga for children for since 2013. She is a registered yoga teacher, a level 1 reiki practitioner and is certified in Urban Zen Integrative Therapy. She was the 2014 recipient of the Boston Children’s Hospital David S. Weiner Award to develop yoga for patients and staff. She currently teaches inclusive yoga for children at Martha Eliot and offers chair yoga for all in the Hale Family Center for Families as well as Reiki and Urban Zen Integrative therapy treatments for patients and families at Boston Children’s.
Jessica is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher, and a Reiki Practitioner. Since 1999, she facilitated the clinical group program on the inpatient acute care psychiatric unit at Boston Children’s Hospital. She loves sharing yoga, meditation and transformational work with her patients and has watched the healing quality of yoga work for so many patients.
Larraine is an AP reiki master and has experience in program development and education for HealingSmith, a holistic nursing provider. She was a Project Manager at Boston Children’s Hospital for ten years with Executive Managing Editor responsibility for a staff newsletter and coordination of Integrative Therapies, which included: direct care for inpatient children, parent relaxation program and development, staff relaxation and respite program development and Integrative Therapies CEU programming for staff and community nurses. Since 1996, Larraine has been a Reiki Master and Teacher. She is also a Certified Integrative Nurse Coach and has presented at National and International professional conferences on relating to the use of integrative therapies in nursing practice.
Maryann completed her training as a licensed massage therapist at Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA in 2003. Before joining the team at Boston Children's Hospital, Maryann maintained a private practice providing massage to employees at various companies throughout the greater Boston area. She also offers massage for parents and caretakers through the Family Resource Room on 9 North, the Neonatal ICU and the Solid Transplant Unit. Maryann recognizes that the caregivers of our patients are often so focused on their child that they neglect their own needs. She strives to help alleviate some of their stress and anxiety through chair massage.
Sandra graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute of Cambridge, MA in 2002. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and is a Board Certified Massage Therapist. She has taken continuing education classes in Chair Massage, Pregnancy Massage and Hospital Based Massage Therapy. Sandra is an animal lover; she volunteers with the Melrose Humane Society and she and her husband are foster parents to cats and kittens.
Sara is native to Colombia, South America. She is fluent in Spanish, English and the application of American Sign Language. As a mother of a child with disabilities, she knows firsthand the heartbreak and the joy of raising children with serious challenges. Sara brings a long history of supporting special needs children, their families and their communities. Since 1999, Sara has been a private Master Reiki practitioner. She also practiced Para-Bija meditation since 1998 and is a Reconnective Healing Practitioner, certified in Angel Reiki, singing bowls, flower essences, and aromatherapy.
Kathleen is a Reiki Master and Licensed, Board Certified Massage Therapist, with a background in art and finance. In 1999, Kathleen embarked on a second career as a graduate of Massage Institute of New England, concurrently training in Reiki. Kathleen has a private practice serving clients in Boston and the South Shore communities with a devotion to pediatric and adult oncology clients. She is also a certified Oncology Massage Therapist, is trained in infant massage and helped pioneer the Volunteer Reiki Program at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Having experienced a sense of helplessness during her daughter's inpatient stay a few years ago, Kathleen is inspired to provide an oasis where family members are swaddled in a nurturing ambiance and for a moment in time, feel empowered to let go and just breathe.
