The largest pediatric research enterprise in the world just got larger and friendlier...

  • World's largest research program based at a children's hospital, with $120 million in research funding
  • 325,000 gross square feet of new space added to an existing 328,000 square feet of research space
  • 20 floors, including 12 floors of research space, three floors of mechanical space and five floors of parking
  • The new building cost $130 million to construct
  • Laboratory and administrative space maximizing interaction among colleagues

    • Over 1 million zebrafish between Children's two research buildings

  • A state-of-the-art emergency power system allows for the preservation of unique research substances or data during a power outage
  • The typical zebra fish is less than 3 inches long. If you laid all of Children's zebra fish head to tail, they would stretch nearly 30 miles. That's long enough to go from Children's Hospital Boston to Children's Hospital at Lexington and back!
  • The zebra fish tanks in the Children's research enterprise weigh a total of 20 tons
