Charles Weinstein Appointed to Vice President for Real Estate and Planning Development at Children's
On Feb. 23, Charles Weinstein will become Children's Hospital Boston's new vice president for Real Estate and Planning Development. Weinstein comes to Children's after holding a similar position at the Johns Hopkins Institutions in Maryland. Weinstein's experience will help Children's to further its role as a top medical institution through the development of new properties. Children's new clinical building will be complete within the next year and Weinstein will oversee this project and others that will improve the services offered by the hospital.

Weinstein joins Children's with more than 30 years of experience. He has held influential real estate and development roles at multiple institutions. Most recently, he served as director of Real Estate Services for the Johns Hopkins Institutions and Dome Corporation. In this role, Weinstein managed the design and construction of offices, research and laboratory facilities, site improvements, voice data connectivity and NIH-funded lab operations. In his new role at Children's, he will deal with many of these same functions.

For four years, Weinstein served as vice president for South Charles Realty Corp., NationsBank and Bank of America, where he was responsible for managing the real estate assets of the nations second largest bank. He also served as the director of design and construction for Baltimores ''Inner Harbor'' attractions, and acted as the project director for the Baltimore Convention Center and the National Aquarium.

''As part of the Children's team, we know that Charles will help us to further the mission of Children's Hospital, and work to make the facilities of the institution some of the best in the world. With the opening of our new research building last year, and the new clinical building opening in the spring of 2005, Charles enters Children's at a very important time. We look forward to working in partnership with Charles and the Board in keeping Children's at the forefront of change,'' said James Mandell, MD, president and chief executive officer of Children's.
