MEDIA ADVISORY: Boston Sports Teams Play Like Champions for Children's

Children's Hospital Boston Honors Bruins' Patrice Bergeron at Annual Event
October 30, 2007
Boston, MA--On October 30, professional sports team owners, players and legends and Boston's business elite will attend Champions for Children's, an annual dinner and auction that raises funds for Children's Hospital Boston's patient care, research and community health programs. Hosted by Comcast SportsNet personalities Mike Gorman and Greg Dickerson, Champions for Children's is Boston's only charity event supported by all five professional sports teams; owners are members of the event committee, donate auction items, and help raise awareness of the event. Last year, Champions raised $4.3 million in one evening. This year's goal is to raise $4.5 million.

Boston Bruins player Patrice Bergeron will be recognized as a "Champion Award" recipient, an annual honor bestowed on a Boston athlete who exemplifies outstanding commitment to the community. He will receive the award at the event from hospital patient, 10-year old David Youngerman.

Bergeron will be honored for his commitment to Children's Hospital and for being a positive role model through "Patrice's Pals"--a program that brings children from local hospitals and other organizations to the TD Banknorth Garden to experience a Bruins game as VIP guests.
