Steven R. Gordon Named Chief Administrative Officer of Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham
Committed healthcare professional to provide leadership for new Waltham Campus
(Waltham, MA) Steven R. Gordon, a healthcare executive with more than twenty years of experience leading community-based and regional hospitals, has been named Chief Administrative Officer of Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham. Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham opened/will open in early June and is home to pediatric physicians in over 20 specialty areas.

''I'm excited to be at the helm of such an important new extension of Children's and to be part of the talented leadership team at Children's Hospital Boston,'' Gordon said. ''Their commitment to providing high quality care in a community setting really excites me and I look forward to helping Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham expand both the number of patients it serves and the range of services it provides.''

Gordon was most recently the Vice President of Physician and Business Development at Newton Wellesley Hospital, where he managed physician alliances and collaborations with other hospitals, as well as implemented new services and programs. He was also responsible for all major construction projects and the establishment of new medical offices in Natick, Waltham and Walpole. Previously, Gordon served for 13 years as Chief Executive Officer and President of Parkland Medical Center, where he was responsible for overall operations, strategic planning and financial performance for the 80-bed acute care hospital in Derry, NH.

''Steve brings energy, enthusiasm and a unique brand of experience to Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham,'' said Sandra Fenwick, Chief Operating Officer at Children's Hospital Boston. ''We are confident that under his administration, the Waltham campus will provide an optimal patient and parent experience.''

As CAO, Gordon will provide leadership for the Waltham Campus and work in close collaboration with the executive team at Children's Hospital Boston as the strategic plan for Waltham is developed and implemented. Gordon is also responsible for day-to-day operations at Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham, including: management of all patient care programs, operating and capital budgets and human resources.

Programs and services currently offered at Waltham include: Adolescent Medicine, Allergy, Audiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology, Nutrition, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Preventive Cardiology, Radiology, Renal, Sports Medicine and Urology.

As part of Phase I in the development of Children's Hospital Boston at Waltham, 21,000 of the 200,000 square feet available at the site have been redesigned for Children's Hospital clinical programs and services in an ambulatory clinic setting. Children's Hospital Boston is currently considering opportunities for Phase Two of the expansion, which is likely to include outpatient surgery and short overnight stays in the future.
