What is unique about the New England Consortium of Metabolic Programs?
A: The New England Consortium includes professional representatives
from metabolic centers, public health departments, and newborn screening
programs. Representatives from industry, parent organizations, and support
groups also participate. It is the only professional organization in New
England that brings together those involved in the identification, treatment,
or study of inborn errors of metabolism. Recent projects include: developing
acute illness protocols for the treatment of metabolic disorders to be
used by general practitioners and emergency room staff and sponsoring
social support events around New England.

What are the benefits of joining the New England Consortium?
A: Members are involved at a direct level with the latest issues
in metabolism. Members can also interact within a professional forum
that incorporates metabolic centers around New England. Membership also
entails inclusion in the mailing list, monthly e-mail updates and memos,
and access to the restricted membership list. The New England Consortium
also holds an annual meeting that is by invitation only.

A: Yes, but as adjunct members. This means that they may come
to the meetings but only if there is room.

How do I get an invitation to the annual meeting?
A: The annual New England Consortium meeting is by invitation
only and is meant to be a working meeting as well as a forum to learn
about the latest developments in metabolism. Representatives from industries
that provide the special medical foods and formulas for metabolic disorders

Is there a fee to join?
A: No. But, there is a $500 fee for exhibitors at the annual
New England Consortium Meeting that is held in Worcester, MA each year.
