| The Harriet L. Needleman Speech and Language Fund
is dedicated to fostering education in the field of speech and language development and disorders through annual conferences at Children's Hospital Boston. Harriet received her BA in speech and audiology from Douglas College and MA in education from Boston University. She was a speech and language therapist in the Boston Public School System and supervised in the Robbins Speech and Hearing Clinic at Emerson College. She was a noted private practitioner in Needham and a member of the Dana Group Associates, where she provided assessment and treatment to children and adolescents and consultation to schools and professionals. She was also a contributing author to several texts and training manuals. Throughout her thirty year career as a speech language pathologist, she was devoted to and beloved by the many children who were her clients. It is through the efforts of their parents and of those who loved Harriet that this fund has been established.
Harriet was always developing, expanding and enhancing her diagnostic and therapeutic skills. She actively pursued continuing education in her own discipline as well as in related disciplines. It is therefore appropriate that this fund was established to provide educational opportunities for those interested in the field.
