Regardless of severity, acquired head injuries can impact a child's physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning. Boston Children's Hospital Brain Injury Center aims to provide the highest level of care to children and adolescents who have sustained a brain injury and provides comprehensive acute and follow-up care with the goal of managing symptoms in patients diagnosed with concussion as well as more severe traumatic brain injury.
Our center coordinates care across several services—including the Trauma Center, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Sports Medicine and Neuropsychology—to enhance the health and well-being of patients, minimize distress, and prevent longer-term difficulties.
Our award-winning physicians have changed the history of sports medicine by leading innovative research in the lab, and the clinic, and our wide range of specialists deliver care in a multi-disciplinary way that helps address each athlete's unique needs. Our orthopedics team attends to more than 96,000 patients and performs over 6,000 surgeries annually and has been ranked in the top 3 in the category of pediatric orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report since 2010.
