Melanie's Visit to the ER
At Beverly Hospital's new ER, Melanie's pneumonia was treated with something not offered in any other ER in the area...
Children's Hospital Boston pediatric specialists.

When three-year-old Melanie Muir had a fever and difficulty breathing, her mom brought her to Beverly Hospital's new emergency room. One "very scary drive" to the ER later, Melanie was immediately seen by Children's Hospital Boston pediatrician Dr. Karen Gruskin and treated for her condition.

Her vital signs didn't stabilize right away, so she was admitted to Beverly's Pediatric inpatient unit where she was treated by Children's pediatricians working in conjunction with her primary care physician. After two nights of treatment, with her mom, Theresa, sleeping in the room with her, Melanie's condition improved and she was released.

Image If Melanie had needed more specialized care, her transfer from Beverly Hospital to Children's Hospital Boston would have been immediate and seamless.

Melanie is much better now and Theresa raves about the care they received from the entire team at Beverly Hospital -- from Dr. Gruskin and the other Children's physicians to the nurses. "I love going there. I mean, I wish it was for better things - but once you get there, you can breathe a sigh of relief because you know your child is in good hands."
