What makes Children's Hospital Boston different from other pediatric hospitals?
With more than 160 subspecialty programs, Children's Hospital Boston has more clinical breadth and depth than any other pediatric hospital. Children's is the primary pediatric teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, where all of Children's staff physicians hold faculty appointments. For 17 consecutive years, Children's has been ranked as one of the top two pediatric hospitals in the country by U.S. New & World Report.
Children's was the first pediatric hospital in the country to use robot-assisted surgery (in Otolaryngology, Urology and Cardiac Surgery). Children's is the first and currently the only children's hospital to have an MR/OR--an operating room with a mobile MRI unit, which allows imaging before, during and after surgery and allows surgeons to use the standard metal surgical tools for better precision and safety.
With over $100 million in annual sponsored research funding and more than 680,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratory space, Children's is home to the world's largest and most active research enterprise at a pediatric center.
Additionally, Children's location in Boston, a world renowned hub for medical services, has facilitated many partnerships with other institutions such as the Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care (DF/CHCC), the largest and most active pediatric cancer program in New England.
