Douglas Atkinson, MD, is an assistant in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia and an attending in the Cardiac ICU. Atkinson has previously held fellowships in pediatric cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric cardiac intensive care at Boston Children's Hospital. In addition, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at University of Washington School of Medicine and a pediatric critical care fellowship and pediatric residency at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. Clinically, Atkinson specializes in perioperative care of children with congenital heart disease, while his research centers on metabolic changes in the brain during anesthesia.
Viviane Nasr, MD, is an assistant in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia. Nasr completed residencies in anesthesiology at the American University of Beirut and Tufts Medical Center, and fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology at Children's National Medical Center and Boston Children's Hospital. Her clinical practice centers on the care of children with congenital heart defects, while her research focuses on improving the outcomes of children undergoing anesthesia.
