Growing up
Because of polyarteritis nodosa, a rare autoimmune disease, Isabelle Labbe had much of her intestinal tract removed and now has "short bowel syndrome." Because her short digestive tract cannot absorb nutrients effectively, she is here as part of a clinical study comparing her growth and metabolism with that in children without the condition.
