Fauza hopes to repair defective treacheas while the baby is still in the womb, or during a controlled delivery (before the umbilical cord is cut) using tissue-engineered tubes made of cartilage. Prenatal surgery would allow the baby to breathe on her own at birth, with better healing and without the need to replace or repair the graft.
