Andrew Baumel | Professional History

Dr. Baumel graduated from Yale University with a bachelors degree in Biology and a varsity letter in fencing. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He trained at Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago for his residency in pediatrics and then joined Framingham Pediatrics. He has taught students from U Mass Medical School and mentors pre-med students.

His clinical interests are wide ranging and include children with complex medical needs such as infection induced OCD, ADHD, and encopresis. In addition to fluency in Spanish, He also learned Portuguese to care for the large Brazilian community that resides in the Metrowest region. Outside of the office he enjoys fencing, orienteering, mountain biking, hiking and astronomy.

For 25 years I have been privileged to get to know many families who trust me to partner with them in caring for their children. My passion for pediatrics began with an intense interest in science and 6 wonderful summers as a camp counselor in NH. Being a good listener is the most important part of my job. To that end, I use a medical scribe which allows me to be free of a computer during visits.
