As a psychologist with a pediatric focus, Dr. Sanchez has always held a strong interest in working with children and adolescents from diverse backgrounds with complex mental health issues. Her areas of clinical and research work center on health disparities, eating disorders and body image concerns, depression, anxiety, and NSSI (non-suicidal self-injury). She works within the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine as a clinician in the Strategy for Team Empowerment and Physical Health (STEP) Program alongside a multidisciplinary team helping adolescents and young adults with emotional eating and binge eating disorder. Additionally, she provides care for patients struggling with anorexia and bulimia nervosa in the Outpatient Eating Disorders Program. She also teaches adolescent medicine fellows and first-year pediatric residents.
