Philosophy of Care

I entered into the field of Exercise Physiology because I have always been active in sports and fitness. My passion lies within the fitness field and I enjoy coaching and counseling patients towards better health through exercise. My primary goal as an exercise physiologist is to help people of all ages become healthy and active and find true enjoyment from exercise.

I am a full-time Clinical Exercise Physiologist with over 20 years’ experience in clinical exercise testing in the congenital and acquired heart disease population and over 15 years’ experience educating allied health students, professionals, health care providers, and patients and families on the importance of exercise testing and training. My research focus is on the positive impact that exercise training has on the health and wellness of children with and without disease. I contributed to development and implementation of the Heart Center's Cardiac Fitness Program.

I am a PhD candidate at Simmons College. My dissertation research is looking to identify specific content for a formal pediatric cardiac rehabilitation curriculum for children and adolescents with congenital heart disease that could serve to benefit all pediatric heart center programs across the country.
