Philosophy of Care

In the Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) our philosophy is to ensure that every patient receives the best care for the best possible outcomes. We consider our “patient” to be the baby and the family; we are constantly striving to serve the needs of both. This requires a team based approach with all members being essential.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

After completing undergraduate studies in biology with a minor in psychology, Dr. Maushumi Assad attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. She then completed her pediatric residency training at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore followed by neonatal -perinatal fellowship training at the University of Connecticut. Her areas of interest include human milk microbiome, nutrition and secretory IgA. She is an attending physician at the Boston Children's Hospital NICU and Winchester Hospital's Special Care Nursery.
