Philosophy of Care

Growing up, I always assumed the caretaker role most likely due to the fact that I am the oldest of three sisters. Therefore, I always knew I would be fulfilled in a career where people come first. Overtime I realized nursing would be the best direction for my career. Being a neurology nurse practitioner has been challenging but very rewarding in that I am able to be support and care for my patients and their families during stressful times.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

I joined the neurology department in 2010 and since have continued to expand my practice. When I initially joined the neurology team, I saw patients with behavioral neurologic disorders such as learning disabilities, tic disorders, developmental delays, ADHD and ASD. However over the past 4 years, I started to see urgent neurologic conditions, such as first time seizures and new onset headaches, received competency in procedures, such as lumbar punctures, and subspecialized in neuro-immunologic disorders where I see patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Within the past year, I was also promoted to nurse practitioner clinical coordinator, which is a supportive role to the ever expanding nurse practitioner presence within our department.

This clinician offers Virtual Visits (video consultations) for follow-up care in clinically-appropriate cases.
