Pediatric Thyroid Cancer Pediatric Research and Clinical Trials

Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are among the top pediatric research centers in the world, and our research programs include both laboratory scientists and clinical researchers. Our laboratory researchers have helped to define the gene changes in a variety of solid tumors, and we continue to examine the molecular underpinnings of all types of tumors, including thyroid cancer.

Our Thyroid Center has conducted and published many studies that have expanded our understanding of how thyroid cancers in children are discovered, and how they should be evaluated and treated.

Some of our important findings:

Clinical Trials

For many children with rare or hard-to-treat conditions, clinical trials provide new options. Clinical trials, or research studies evaluating new treatment approaches, are a major offering at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s. We offer enrollment in both independent and cooperative treatment studies, many of which are available only at our center.

The Children's Oncology Group is a consortium of cancer treatment centers across the United States, Canada, and other countries that conduct studies of nearly every kind of pediatric cancer. Our participation in this group gives children with cancer unparalleled access to the newest clinical trials.
