  Our support for community based
organizations takes center stage

Cut to scene: Two girls are fighting in the school lunchroom over a boy they both like. Trays go flying and punches are thrown until one of the girls is bleeding from a gash on her cheek.

Now: “Freeze!” Thankfully, this scene isn’t real. It’s the work of Urban Improv, a theater group that teaches youth how to think fast in realistic—and sometimes life-threatening—situations.

We support a wide range of organizations to make Boston a more vibrant place for children and families.

Urban Improv is just one of the many community organizations that Children’s Hospital Boston supports as part of our community mission. Not only do we partner with organizations to address asthma, mental health, injuries, and obesity, we also help groups like Urban Improv that strive to provide a wide range of services that children and families need.

Since 2000, Children’s has supported more than 100 organizations through financial and in-kind contributions.

Families come together in the Fenway
Nearly 1,000 families with children make the Fenway their home. Many of these families live below the poverty level and have limited access to the most basic services for their children.

Fenway Community Development Corporation, with the support of Children’s Hospital Boston, has stepped into  the void by developing playgrounds, launching an after school program and organizing holiday activities for families so children and their parents can form strong relationships with their neighbors and build a sense of community. These programs have served more than 400 children in recent years.
