IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS

Explore and improve patient communication in your clinical or training practice, with a focus on the skills and knowledge needed to put your learning into practice right away. Live actors and extensive discussion provide immediate growth. Full- and half-day events take place in Boston and by arrangement at host institutions worldwide, and can be customized to a specialty or a hospital’s priorities. See workshop calendar >

ONLINE LEARNING

From 2-hour live, interactive webinars to self-paced programs, IPEP online learning enables clinicians worldwide to gain skills and readiness for difficult medical conversations efficiently and conveniently. Evocative trigger films bring the actor-based simulation into these courses, too. See online opportunities >

PEER SUPPORT ROUNDS

Peer support is a powerful tool to support clinicians and strengthen their resilience. IPEP facilitates PERCS Rounds for peer support in Cardiovascular and Critical Care and NICU Units at Boston Children’s Hospital. IPEP also trains other institutions to bring PERCS Rounds to their own clinicians and--NEW in Fall 2019--offers Online Peer Support Rounds to any clinician worldwide. Rounds are monthly, hour-long, interdisciplinary forums for candid, confidential group discussion of real-time ethical, moral, and emotional challenges in their professional and clinical practice. Sessions conclude with a pro-active brainstorming exercise where participants share possible solutions, additional resources, or ideas for further support and self-care.

Coming Soon: FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES

Patients and families often also struggle with challenging conversations with their caregivers. A difficult diagnosis or the need to make a complex choice in care, especially when a patient’s situation is new and unfamiliar, can add to the stresses of receiving care. IPEP is developing resources to help patients and families feel more comfortable asking questions, understanding their options, and interacting with their caregivers.
