Program overview

The PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program at Boston Children's Hospital is a postgraduate educational and training experience designed to develop pharmacists with expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy.

Our program is a 12-month postgraduate curriculum that offers training opportunities in acute care, ambulatory care, drug information and drug use policy development, clinical services and practice leadership. The program for each resident varies based on his or her goals, interests and experience. Upon completion of the ASHP accredited program, trainees are awarded a residency certificate.

Program goals

  • Engage and prepare the resident for significant responsibilities in clinical, educational, and operational aspects of pharmacy practice
  • Provide a mechanism whereby the resident contributes to the development of pharmacy services within an institution
  • Develop the resident's teaching abilities

Residents are expected to:

  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in multiple settings
  • Develop independent learning skills
  • Maintain a professional ethic
  • Provide effective drug education to others
