There are more than 200 nurses in the Cardiovascular Program. A professional advancement process for staff nurses recognizes and rewards nurses who choose to advance their practice at the bedside. Many opportunities exist for nurses in the Cardiovascular Program to contribute to important initiatives for patient safety, performance improvement, clinical practice guideline development, and patient and family education.
There are more than 25 advanced practice nurses, including cardiovascular nurse practitioners, as well as clinical nurse specialists and nurse educators. A unique program of cardiovascular nursing research enables staff to conduct clinical research with the support of doctorally prepared nurses.
