The Division of Critical Care Medicine is committed to excellence in clinical care, education and research in the field of pediatric critical care.

At Children's Hospital Boston, we pioneered the treatment of ECMO and high frequency oscillatory ventilation to advance clinical care, hospital-based simulation to enhance training and founded the largest research consortium of pediatric critical care practitioners in North America.

With five faculty funded by the National Institutes of Health, as well as several other faculty funded with foundation grant support, our research agenda includes development of a vaccine against bacteria that is a leading cause of death in children, elucidating the molecular mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension, identifying the genes that predispose healthy infants to develop respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis, investigating novel measures of lung volume and examining ethical concerns in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Our commitment to training attracts physicians from all over the world to our pediatric critical care medicine fellowship program for advanced training.

Please take a moment to get to know us better by browsing through our web pages.

The Division of Critical Care Medicine oversees a wide range of programs and services available at Children's including:
